A: Most locals depend on www.NelsonCountyLife.com and Tommy Stafford’s daily audio forecast. Tommy covers all of Nelson County and Wintergreen Resort. If you are planning a visit to Nelson County or Wintergreen, be sure to visit this web site. Remember, it is always at least 10 degrees colder in the mountains that the Rockfish Valley.

Wintergreen (and Nelson County) does an excellent job with snow removal. It is always a good idea to read the slope report at www.WintergreenResort.com before arriving in Nelson County. This is an excellent way to get the latest on the road conditions to and in the resort. Even though the county and the resort does an excellent job with snow removal, it is still a good idea to have a 4WD to get to the resort during a snow storm.

In today’s audio forecast by Tommy Stafford, he mentions the possibility for significant snow in the next 10 days. December 19th is the anniversary of last year’s major Nelson County blizzard. Will we get another storm on the same day in 2010? More snow on Christmas Eve? Stay tuned…
