Q: Where can I find homemade ice cream in Nelson County?
A: Visit the Saunders Farm Market in Piney River, opening today, for some great peach ice cream. It is one of our favorites.
Saunders Farm Market
We drove past the Saunders Farm Market yesterday in Piney River and noticed that today is their opening day for the season. I immediately knew the subject of my next blog posting. The Saunders Farm Market is a “don’t miss” in Nelson County.
Peaches will be available at this popular market sometime around June 20th. Until then, there are plenty of locally grown items to pick up at the market. Plus, Saunders specializes in jams, jellies, sauces and ciders. Oh yea…and the ice cream is fantastic. The market often has samples available of many of their products.
The market is located at 2735 Tye Brook Highway in Piney River Virginia (22964) Visit their web site at www.saundersbrothers.com The market is open Monday-Saturday, 9AM-5PM.
This makes a great family stop while driving around Nelson County. You can even put together a basket to take some of Nelson County home.
I hope to see you in beautiful Nelson County this Summer…
